Health and safety and equal rights in the work place has never been as important as it is nowadays. Every worker throughout the United Kingdom has a right to work within an environment where risks to safety and health are minimised as much as they possibly can be. The risks should be reviewed and controlled at all times ensuring the safety of all staff working with a company. Over the latter few years it is not only health and safety which has become an issue but also equal rights. Rights for the disabled which means that someone who has a disability is able to do a job and work well as part of a team. Provisions should be put in place for someone with a disability, if disabled access is required by law this provision should be in place, adapted equipment if necessary. An equal pay structure should also be in place, with men and women being paid the same if the job and the takes within the job are equal. Every worker in the United Kingdom has a right to work in a harassment free environment, and be protected from any discrimination whether it due to age, religion or race.

All of the above initially stemmed from workers wanting the same amount of pay as their colleagues who were doing the same job. It was felt by many that although they were doing exactly the same task as another person, they were not being paid the same amount of money, or receiving the same amount of benefits. Equal pay was possibly the first in a long line of topics, which were to come up for discussion. Discrimination was a big area which had to be dealt with, whether it was discrimination due to pay, race, religion, or sex, this area was dealt with and it is now unlawful to discriminate against a worker because of any of the areas mentioned.

There are many working provisions which have been implemented by companies, over the latter 20 years. These provisions have made it possible for more people to work, and made the workplace once which has a safer and harassment free environment. It has also meant that employers have gained more out of staff by making things fair. It cuts out the need to moan about work (although most of us do).

Even big car manufacturers have had to bring in equal rights, and provisions for disabled employees. Industries which include Chip Tuning and Audi Tuning have also had to follow suit.
